Electorate.vote is a civic tool built to inform and engage elected representatives — and to unite Arizonans on common ground, free of any political or party affiliation.

This app is a demo version of that proposed tool — independent, and NOT affiliated with any political party or government organization. It is one of many possible ways to speed up the feedback loop between representatives and their constituents.

Electorate provides a written weekly record of voter sentiment, along with a simple mechanism for enforcing recall procedures that already exist under Arizona law. The goal is to encourage engagement, scrutiny, and common ground.

With enough feedback and attention, an app like this could serve the entire state. Whoever runs it must remain neutral and constituent-minded. The money to operate it could come from consolidating a handful of existing az.gov websites — sites that are needlessly complex, broken, or exist mainly to justify a budget.

The power to recall an official already belongs to Arizona voters. Electorate just makes wielding it organized, visible, and collective.

If a representative's approval falls below 40% for four straight weeks, a below-threshold tag appears on their profile and their office is notified.

If it stays there for eight weeks, a recall filing begins — through Arizona's existing process. The digital support recorded here organizes the effort; Arizona law requires wet-ink signatures on official sheets to qualify. Electorate triggers and equips that paper effort — it doesn't replace it.

Every week, Tuesday through Saturday, you answer two questions: what matters most to you right now, and what would you do about it. Tap a neighbor's topic to add your voice — or write your own. Counts stay hidden all week, so ideas rise on their own merit, not momentum.

Sunday is reveal day. The week's top concerns and solutions are published and archived for the public record, and voting pauses for the day. Monday, the slate resets and it begins again.

Electorate is a working demo built on a budget. It is a tool to scrutinize all facets of our government, including budgets. This is why Electorate cannot and will not become another questionable budget line. In its current state, it cost several hundred dollars to create and maintain. Scaled statewide, the technology stays the smallest expense — modern hosting scales to millions of users for less than a single state salary.

The genuine cost is people: a small nonpartisan office, closer to six staff than six hundred. An administrator accountable to the public, with moderators to keep the weekly boards functioning. Clerks to verify representative rosters and archive every Sunday reveal, which becomes a permanent public record. Lastly, an outreach desk to keep every county's officials informed of their standing.

Scaling up would also require facilities, though those too scale proportionately: one modest office, located anywhere in the state that budget-friendly space can be found — used not just for the day-to-day, but also to produce annual independent security and neutrality audits, published in full.

The money already exists in the dozens of overlapping state websites Arizona — we taxpayers — already host. These sites have a habit of being needlessly complex, sometimes broken, and — my personal favorite — existing to justify their own budgets. Consolidating a handful would fund this entire operation without a single additional tax dollar. Redirect the money spent on sites nobody uses toward Electorate — a site that doesn't exist without your use.
